2023 Subaru Solterra: Adventure Electrified
Subaru has evolved into a brand synonymous with adventure and the outdoors. So, transitioning to a more environmentally compatible lineup is only natural. Subaru's initial foray into battery-powered automobility was with the Crosstrek plug-in hybrid. Now, the automaker is going all-in with its first all-electric model, the 2023 Subaru Solterra. Inspired by the Latin words for Sun and Earth, the Solterra represents Subaru's commitment to delivering adventure-ready versatility in a more environmentally responsible package.
Solterra Performance, Range, and Charging
Solterra's electric powertrain leverages new Subaru StarDrive® Technology to produce 215 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. The standard dual-motor Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive configuration combines with Subaru X-MODE® to provide sure-footed handling and control for all types of weather and terrain. And the new 'Grip Control' system incorporates Hill Descent/Ascent Assist, enabling excellent versatility on and off the road.
Solterra offers an estimated range of 220-228 miles, depending on wheel size-equivalent to 94 miles per gallon. The battery can be completely replenished in about nine hours with Level 2 (240V, 6.6kWh) charging equipment. And at a 100-kW DC fast-charging station, Solterra can refill 80-percent in under an hour.
