Trims
There are six available trims. The base model is a bargain, and it'll be hard to find too many other models with comparable amenities that are in the same price range. The Premium is the next model, and it comes with heated front seats. Following the Premium is the Sport. It has special cloth seats with red stitching, and it has a spoiler and black side mirrors to add to its look. There are leather seats, 18-inch wheels, and heating elements in the front and rear seats in the Limited. Because the Limited XT and Touring XT both use turbocharged engines, they're a little more exciting to drive. They come standard with larger touchscreens and navigation, with the Touring XT featuring heated and ventilated front seats as well as Nappa leather upholstery.
Performance
Your new Legacy can run on one of two engines. The first four trims use 2.5-liter engines that can generate over 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. These trims have an estimated fuel economy of 27/35 (city/highway) miles per gallon. The XT models use 2.4-liter turbocharged engines, which give them 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. With a turbocharged engine, the Legacy can achieve an estimated 24/32 (city/highway) miles per gallon.
The difference between the two engines in terms of power is significant, so it's something to think about if you value performance. Both engines are paired with Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmissions, and every 2021 Legacy model is equipped with symmetrical all-wheel drive. Because all-wheel drive is standard, the Subaru Legacy can appeal to people who are concerned about traction during the winter months in Ashland.
The Cabin
As a sedan, the Legacy has a size that many consumers would consider ideal. Legroom in the front is 42.8 inches, and in the back, it's 39.5 inches. This is a big selling point, as it means that you can easily fit three passengers in the back.
We mentioned some of the amenities earlier when we were going over the trims, but it's a good idea to remind you of all the quality features that the Subaru Legacy can have. This car has available heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel. There are plenty of convenient things about the car, such as the available keyless entry, automatic headlights, and memory function built into the driver's seat.
Technology has played a key role in the Legacy's success. For 2021, all of our models have STARLINK infotainment systems. On the base model, there's a seven-inch touchscreen that has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM.
On all of the other trims, the touchscreen is 11.6 inches, and there's built-in Wi-Fi capability. These higher trims either have six-speaker systems or Harman Kardon sound systems with 12 speakers.
Safety
The safety package on the new Subaru Legacy is another huge advantage. All Legacies have EyeSight Driver Assist Technology that allows them to monitor how things are going actively. If you're about to hit the vehicle in front of you or drift out of your lane, your car can alert you to the issue and help you correct the situation. In addition, every Legacy features a rear-vision camera to give you a better idea of what's behind you when you're in reverse, and the Touring XT even has a front view monitor. Blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking are included on the higher trims.
The new Subaru Legacy really offers a complete package. This car is one that you'll be able to count on. Let us know if you have questions or would like to schedule a test drive.
